The Christian tradition is that 2,000 years ago a poor Jewish carpenter named Jesus of Nazareth was crucified by the Roman government for alleged blasphemy and insurrection. He was then placed in a tomb guarded by soldiers, and on the third day there were eyewitness accounts that he was raised from the dead. What did the eyewitnesses mean when they said “he is risen”? Is this claim of resurrection from the dead credible? Is it historical? Most importantly—what does it mean for how we choose to live in our modern world?
